In that this will be my last column before the presidential election, there will be no sarcasm, no attempts at witty repartee. The topic is too serious, and the stakes are too high.

WASHINGTON, Oct. 29, 2004 – Military and civilian Pennsylvania residents living overseas today received an eight-day extension on the deadline to get their absentee ballots counted.
The extension came about when a federal judge today settled a lawsuit between the governor of Pennsylvania and the parents of two servicemembers, according to news reports. So the state's absentee-voter deadline moved from Nov. 2 to 5 p.m. on Nov. 10.
State voting requirements, such as deadlines, are determined state by state, said Linda Brooks, with the Federal Voting Assistance Program. The federal program comes under the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Voting Act.
Military personnel and their families can get information on voting laws from designated voting assistance officers in military units and on bases. Voting assistance officers provide education about voting procedures and absentee balloting to ensure servicemembers everywhere can exercise their right to vote."No Protestors. Last week ‘Stolen Honor’ was set to play at Baederwood Theater (about seven minutes from the Keswick) –it was sold out and was cancelled at the last minute because the party of free speech threatened civil disobedience and harassment to the theater’s owner. This after another theater within a 5 mile distance showed ‘Fahrenheit 911’…no conservatives were threatening violence to stop that movie which has been proven fake –but the brown shirts were out in droves to silence POWs.
So what’s a girl to make of this? I think they are experiencing the Philly curse…overconfidence. It’s the same thing that happens to our sports teams. The Eagles and Flyers always make it to the end and get your hopes way high…and then they choke. They get overconfident. The ‘stolen Iraq WMDs’ seem to have done the same for the lefties. They think
The show was good…the guests were John McCain, Zell Miller, Senator Rick Santorum, and…Fast Eddie. Yes, PA Governor Ed Rendell called to defend himself for fighting to allow criminals to vote in PA and fighting to block 26,000 overseas ballots. The crowd was insane… ‘Liar!’, ‘Let them Vote!’, ‘Impeach Rendell!’…it was wild. Sean pressed him to promise that he would stand on principle and do everything in his power to allow every ballot postmarked by November 2 to be counted…”He has NO PRINCIPLES,’ the crowd erupted. He wouldn’t. He promised to call Sean today to give him an update of the court case being held this morning. It was Rendell that went to court to fight Nader on the ballot (once again the party of free speech) and so it is Rendell’s personal fault that invalid ballots were sent. Even local NBC news reported that Rendell was fighting to stop the ballots because it looked like 75% of them would be cast for President Bush. The military guys in the crowd had huge homemade signs disparaging (to put it lightly) Rendell and were visibly upset as he spewed his rhetoric.
If Bush wins PA…Bush wins reelection. It’s that simple. Rendell has further political aspirations…he can not let PA go to the GOP or he is forever branded as a failure to his party. He is more-than-willing to silence our military to further his own career. The man already has a Rendell for Governor 2006 website. Once again I must urge everyone (even if your not from PA) to email this man and let him know what you think of REAL voter disenfranchisement!

allow an extension needed due to the ballots going out later because of

Also, is it actually legal in our
state for convicts to vote? I thought they lost rights when convicted.
It's a sad state of affairs if the Democratic Party favors convicts over

The only ‘voter disenfranchisement’ that was proven in the 2000 election was Gore’s legal challenge to at least 700 absentee ballots from our enlisted men and women abroad. “…coordinated effort by Democrats to challenge the overseas ballots, many of them from members of the military.” (AP 10/2000)
I guess it should come as no surprise that the party that appears to loathe the very existence of the military (at least the far-left faction) is looking to silence them again...the effort being led by none other than the Tony Soprano of the DNC –Pennsylvania’s Governor, Ed Rendell.
Due to the Ralph Nader debacle in PA…on the ballot then off the ballot, it is estimated that 26,000 incorrect absentee ballots have been sent overseas –they have Nader’s name on them and the final ruling was that he will not be on the PA ballots. These ballots will most-likely be challenged by the Democrats as ‘invalid’ ballots. That’s 6,100 ballots in

To do so they would have to sacrifice time and resources needed to meet other demands, such as processing the crush of new voter-registration forms that this tight Presidential contest has generated. People of ANY party should be outraged that those who afford us the privilege of Democracy are being systematically shut out of the process. I urge everyone to contact Governor Rendell’s office with calls and emails demanding a voice for our troops! (This man was considered on the list of VPs for Kerry!)

The Man's mother lives in one of the other swing states (FL) and is not a big Bush supporter, in fact for the past 6 months she has been telling us that she was casting her all-important-swing-vote for the Melting Candle (much to our dismay). Have you all seen Journeys With George by Alexandria Pelosi? If you haven’t, you should…it’s a great documentary about the 2000 Primaries and Election. I just finished watching Pelosi’s new HBO documentary Political Tourist which chronicles the 2003-2004 primaries –and, it too, was great (well, at least for political junkies like me). (It’s playing on HBO now –and it’s on HBO On-Demand if you have it).

Deaniacs are scarier than I had even imagined…He was drawing HUGE crowds like a rock star while Kerry was talking to stadiums with 3 or 4 people (literally). They had t-shirts that said “I see Dean People”. I am actually feeling bad for Kerry who is walking around alone attempting to kick rocks and missing them while the crowds and press swarm Dean. Little did either of them know the shirts would soon change to: “Dated Dean –Married Kerry.”
Dick Gephardt has the shiniest teeth I have ever seen…~Jen~…I may have found your man! Shiny!
Ok, I must find a recent picture of Kerry…it looks like he only has ONE tooth in the front of his mouth (it completely eclipses the other tooth) –I don’t mean to be petty, but is absolutely distracting throughout this documentary –but I haven’t noticed it lately…another surgery perhaps? Snaggletooth…gotta love fodder for a new name!
Wesley Clark is more boring when the cameras are off than John Kerry. A scene where he bags groceries is downright embarrassing.
An element of the Dean demise that I was not aware of...he was crappy to the press…How much power does the press have in shaping who the public will eventually pick? Maybe it wasn’t the scream after all….

I just realized that this movie showcased: Dean, Edwards, Lieberman, Gephardt, Graham and Kerry --but Sharpton, Kucinich and Braun where not even mentioned…

This movie just furthered my confusion over the Democrats choice of Kerry over Dean…they loved Dean—he moved them. Kerry kicked rocks alone while Dean moved the crowds to tears (literally)…Was it last minute panic that he was too liberal? Was it Dean’s mistreatment of the press and their punishment with the Dean-Scream? Or was it that Iowans set the pace, and the rest of the country followed like sheep after a state that has a total population that is barely a ¼ of the size of New York City………..

There seems to be an obsessive preoccupation on the left over the fact that Bush has never answered the question: “Name three mistakes that you have made.” Mind you, thinking individuals realize there is no way ANY incumbent –of ANY party –seeking reelection, would answer this question. Should Bush just write and film the Kerry/Edwards commercials for them?
Some here have erroneously come to the conclusion that I think myself perfect –and that I can never admit when I am wrong…the same shortcoming they pin on the President. This got me thinking about all the mistakes that I have made throughout my 33 years on this Earth –and what I would change if I could. What would I answer if someone asked me to bare my most significant mistake for all to see and judge? Think about it…it’s a hard task to undertake –and if it was truly a mistake, a painful recollection to dredge up...
...In my teens, I was constantly embarrassed by my family- not by anything they did…by the fact that they were... I am the oldest of five kids (plus any number of foster children, transients and pets that could be found living under our roof at any given time), and we lived off modest means. My father, a firefighter -who was a wall-paper scraper to make ends meet, and my mother- a stay-at-home mom. On a wing and a prayer they managed to send us all to private school –and hence, barely a scrap was left to spare. In my selfish hormonal teenage state I saw this as a cruel disservice –how could they send me to a school where I ‘couldn’t keep up’? If I had gone to a public school in Philly, I would have been one of the ‘rich’ ones…we had a single house with a front AND back yard…but there…forty minutes from my house, nestled in the suburbs of Philadelphia…I was one of the ‘financial aid’ kids… At Christian High USA, I went to school with the daughter of the second name you think of when I say ‘box of chocolates’, the two sons of a 76er, a brother and sister duo that received Porches for their 16th birthdays (911s not 944s), and a kid who was driven to school everyday in a stretch Rolls and never could say just what his father did. This is what I was up against –at 14, 15, 16 and 17. Not once did I say ‘thanks’ for the great education I was receiving, the ardent sacrifice made to give it –or- the shelter I was given nestled on the lush 10 acre campus with the duck pond. I stored resent and self-pity about my own misfortune at being poor in a pool of rich.
I joined sports to find a way to fit in, meet people and not have to go right home after school. I played field hockey, ran the 50 yd. dash, played softball and was a cheerleader. My father came to EVERYTHING (mom never came –she didn’t like anything that involved watching ‘other people’s kids’ --a trait I think I may have acquired). Most parents never came to anything…they were lawyers, doctors, Sixers and Candy Makers and their kid’s sports teams were not priority when there were Porches to buy. But my Dad was there –every game –cheering me on. Did I ever thank him? No, his reward was to be ignored. I was ashamed that he showed up with paint and wallpaper chips clinging to his jeans…in the ramshackle white Mazda, purchased second hand, that had definately seen better days. So I continued to turn my head –as he continued to cheer…seemingly unfazed.
It seems there was always this wall there between us – an unexplained awkwardness. At times it was almost tangible. In my early twenties, I would sit next to him on the couch, a Flyers game the bond between us, daring myself to say ‘I love you’ or “I’m sorry I was such an incredible shit” out loud. “1, 2, 3….say it!” “Now…say it…” I never did. I couldn’t. The words were trapped in my emotionally-bound soul…the soul that I inherited from him.

I will not regurgitate all the various things that John Kerry has said, over the past 10 years, regarding Iraq and Saddam Hussein…if you want to refresh your memory, you can go to this website and re-read his vast nuance for yourself...It would be a nice preface for this post.
What I am able to gather (from what he is saying now) is that he agrees that Saddam was a threat, that he would give the President the same authorization all over again, that it is good and better for America that Saddam is no longer in power BUT that he disagrees with THE WAY the President carried it out. He thinks we should have a larger coalition, that there should have been a UN resolution for the use of force (not just the threat of it), and that we needed a ‘plan to win the peace’ before we went. Is this correct? So this, to me, means that other than these things, he is in agreement with the Administration that this needed to be done –he agreed with the motive just not the execution.
Now a critical thinker would look at these things –and of course we can’t take them at face value…that would be black and white- and make certain assumptions from Kerry’s past behavior (we will even leave his words out of this) and from the world backdrop at the time we went to war...

So we see that it is not a GOP myth or Republican spin that John Kerry has no consistency or backbone in matters of war and/or National Security. He has proved it in both word and deed –time and time again. His complaints against this Administration are hollow in light of the aforementioned circumstances (that he was/is well aware of) –and glaringly insincere given his vote against the first Gulf War (with all conditions of ‘truth’ and the ‘global test’ being present). You can say that you hate Bush and want a new President –that’s fine and honest…but don’t pretend that John Kerry has not earned his titles as the Waffler and the Flip-Flopper. Given this model—his record vs. his own words now…when would it be OK to use force? I will tell you…”we will attack swiftly and purposefully AFTER EACH ATTACK” John Kerry… …Scary.

Here is my ‘free pass’ list (I always have trouble making it because the celebrities have to open their mouths and ruin the fantasy…so any libs I have listed –include a roll of duct tape to the scenario…LOL):
